The action caused by a catalyst in a chemical reaction is called catalysis. Catalysts are also known as catalysts in industry.

The composition, chemical properties and quality of the catalyst itself do not change before or after the reaction; the relationship between it and the reaction system is like the relationship between a lock and a key, with a high degree of selectivity (or specificity). A catalyst does not catalyze all chemical reactions, for example, manganese dioxide catalyzes the thermal decomposition of potassium chlorate and accelerates the rate of the chemical reaction, but it does not necessarily catalyze other chemical reactions. It is suitable for concentration, mixing, drying of powder, granular and fibrous materials in chemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries, as well as materials requiring low-temperature drying (e.g. biochemical products, etc.), and it is more suitable for drying of materials that are easy to be oxidized, easy to be volatilized, heat-sensitive, strongly stimulating, toxic materials and materials that are not allowed to destroy the crystals.
